Poor Man’s Shepherd’s Pie

Okay, this is technically not shepherd’s pie as it uses chicken instead of beef or lamb. But still.

Here’s what you need:
1 can of Amy’s Organic Southwestern Vegetable Soup
1 pre-cooked rotisserie chicken
1 package of pre-made mashed potatoes

1. Cut up some of the chicken and mix it into the soup.
2. Heat up the soup.
3. Heat up enough mashed potatoes to cover the surface area of your soup bowl.
4. Dollop the potatoes over the soup.
5. Enjoy!
6. Thank Drey for inventing such a quick and delicious meal.

    chicken n dumplins

    chicken broth
    celery
    carrots
    potatoes
    chicken
    basil
    oregeno
    salt
    black pepper
    bisquik
    milk

boil everything but the bisquik and milk. follow the dumplin directions on the bisquik box for mixing the bisquik and milk. spoon on the batter, 10 min covered, 10 mnutes uncovered. eat.

it takes a little longer but totally worth it.

Ha! My recipe has only three ingredients and takes about 5 minutes to make.

mine feeds 5, and instant mashed potatoes are a disgrace to humanity. try the old fashioned way of cleaning the potatoes peeling the potatoes and cutting them and boiling them. then you get to smush them up real good with milk and butter. i also forgot to add flour garlic and onion to the dumplin recipe. for maximum impact, grow your own veggies. they don’t perish as quickly in the garden. ask your landlord before you start 🙂 but i will give you credit for being so inventive.

  4. Drey says:

Please, I *invented* mashed potatoes. Besides, instant mashed potatoes would add too much time to the shepherd’s pie recipe.

you don’t mean you pay someone else to make your mashed potatoes and chicken? next you’ll tell me you make pasta salad using the box mix or just pick it up at the deli. i don’t even know you, man 🙂

ok here’s a quick chinese carry-out substitution. take your arthur treacher’s or long john silver’s chicken and cut it into peices. throw some orange sauce condiment on top and serve it over rice. 5 minutes.

Got something to say? Go for it!
